Our History
Sutherland Bowling & Recreational Club Ltd is one of the oldest bowling clubs in the Sutherland Shire. The club had its beginnings in 1950, with the purchase of a parcel of land in Oak Road, Kirrawee and the erection of a tin shed, being our first clubhouse. Member debentures and a bank loan provided the finance and volunteer labour was used in the construction of our first green, now the club’s Number 2 green.
Today, our club is well known for its friendly, family atmosphere, with 200+ men and women bowling members and around 1500 social members.
Management of the licensed club is under the control of the Honorary Board, whilst the Men’s and Women’s’ bowling clubs are both run by executives & committees, all of whom are volunteers.
The men’s club bowl on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The women bowl on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and separate Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Club Championships are run throughout the year.
